Auren Pro is a spectral delay that splits audio into 50 frequency bands per delay tap, each with its own sequenced timing, plus frequency shifting and a built-in reverb.
It costs $9.99, and a free Auren with 20 bands is also listed.
Best for: Sound Design, Keys & Synths, Vocals. Genres: Ambient & Cinematic, Electronic & EDM.
Keywords: spectral, experimental, multi-band, sound design, vocals, ambience, cinematic, drag-and-drop routing, drums, evolving, freeze, mixing, parallel processing, smooth, pads, wide.
What it does
Auren Pro is "a multi-band spectral delay designed for sound designers, producers, and experimental musicians". Instead of delaying the whole signal, it splits the spectrum into bands and delays each one separately, so echoes smear, scatter and shift across frequencies.
- Bands: 50 frequency bands per delay tap (the free Auren has 20), with two band-mapping algorithms that set how the bands are spread across the spectrum.
- Two delay taps: dual independent taps with flexible routing, in parallel or in series (cascade).
- Sources: dual source modes with blend and shuffle sequencers; Delay 2 can take up to four audio sources at once.
- Sequencing: per-band delay times and feedback set with independent draw and random modes, plus scrubbing and smooth-movement controls for each sequencer.
- Frequency shifting: shifts the delayed bands in frequency for shifting harmonics and spectral effects.
- Reverb: a built-in reverb with decay, size, damping, mix and freeze.
The current version is 1.0.1. It is sold through the developer's Gumroad store, where the price has changed since launch, so check it there.

When to use it
Auren Pro is a sound-design delay rather than a mixing delay. Compared with Timeless 3, Valhalla Delay and Replika XT, which delay the whole signal and then filter and modulate it, Auren Pro gives each of its 50 bands its own timing and feedback, which creates scattered, shimmering echoes those delays cannot make. It is also far cheaper than any of them. On the other hand it has none of the tape or analog character of EchoBoy and none of the tempo-synced, easy-to-set rhythmic delays a mix usually needs, and it is a young plugin with no user reviews yet.
- Best for: evolving textures, spectral smears, frozen ambient tails and experimental sound design on pads, drums and vocals.
- Genres: ambient, cinematic, IDM and experimental electronic.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a conventional mixing delay or vintage echo; Valhalla Delay, Timeless 3 or EchoBoy suit that better.
