What it does
DeePanpot is a free pan control for stereo tracks from the Japanese developer Dotec-Audio. Its idea is in one line from the developer: it controls the "pan of the stereo source, not the balance".
- True stereo pan: a stereo pan knob in many DAWs works as a balance control and simply turns one channel down; DeePanpot moves the whole stereo source towards one side instead.
- Haas effect: adds a short delay between the channels, a psychoacoustic trick the developer uses to make the pan position sound more realistic.
- Controls: a horizontal pan slider and a bypass button, according to Bedroom Producers Blog.
- Light on CPU: Bedroom Producers Blog measured it below 1% CPU in its test.
- Tested hosts: the developer lists Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Studio One, FL Studio, Bitwig Studio and OBS Studio, among others.
The current version is 2.2.1 (13 January 2026). It is a free download.

When to use it
DeePanpot is the pick when your DAW's stereo pan knob only behaves as a balance control and you want to place a stereo track without losing one side of it. Compared with S1 Stereo Imager, it does one job only: it has no width, rotation or asymmetry controls, but it is free and has nothing to learn. Unlike Ozone Imager or Wider, it does not change the width of a source at all; it only moves it. The Haas delay makes the placement sound more natural, but on mono-sensitive material it is worth checking the result in mono.
- Best for: placing stereo keys, pads, drum overheads or doubled guitars in the stereo field without collapsing one channel.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you also want to widen or narrow the source; S1 Stereo Imager or Ozone Imager handle width as well as position.
- Tip: Bedroom Producers Blog suggests duplicating a track, panning one copy 40% right with DeePanpot and the other with the DAW's balance control, then comparing the two.
What producers say
The one hands-on write-up found it pleasant and very light, with a subtle but real difference from balance panning; KVR shows no user reviews yet.
- Bedroom Producers Blog (Tomislav Zlatic, 2015) liked the look of the interface, said "I enjoyed using the plugin" and measured CPU use below 1%.
- Criticisms: the same review noted that some on-screen elements look like controls but aren't, such as a small grey knob next to the logo, and that the difference from balance panning is subtle.
