What it does
TrackGate is DMG Audio's gate/expander, designed as "real gating, in-the-box" to replace console and outboard gates.
- Circuit models: models of classic hardware gates with very short attack times, alongside clean digital gating and expansion.
- Automatic noise detection: helps set the threshold for you.
- Sidechain: two-band sidechain EQ with auto-listen, external sidechain and sample-accurate MIDI triggering.
- Timing: variable lookahead, or zero latency when you need it, plus a ducking mode.

When to use it
A precise, no-nonsense channel gate for engineers who want hardware-gate behaviour without an emulated front panel. It suits drums, vocals and guitars; for more visual feedback see Pro-G or X-Gate, and for drum-hit detection see smart:gate or Oxford Drum Gate 2.
