MagicVerb is a reverb made by DDMF with Ian Sefchick (MagicDeathEye), with chamber and plate models plus a model of a classic digital reverb.
Instead of copying hardware, it models spaces with simple controls, aiming to be a utility reverb for any source, for $99.
Best for: Vocals, Drums, Guitars, Keys & Synths, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: chamber, plate, room, simple, utility, drums, vocals, electric guitar, ambience, beginner-friendly, bus processing, classic, digital classic, full mix, minimal controls, mix bus, mixing, subtle, vintage.
What it does
MagicVerb is a collaboration between DDMF and Ian Sefchick of MagicDeathEye, built around models of real spaces, mainly echo chambers, rather than emulations of hardware units. The aim is "a real utility reverb that works on everything" with very few controls.
- Chambers: five vintage echo chamber models that differ in length and tone, drawn from Sefchick's years of studio chamber experience.
- Rooms: three room models, including Main Studio Room for subtle, natural ambience.
- Plate and digital: Deep Lush Plate, plus Digital Buddha, a filtered early-digital reverb sound.
- Input Gain: drives the model the way a speaker and microphones react to level in a real chamber, so the reverb's character changes with how hard you hit it.
- Core controls: reverb length, pre-delay and dry/wet mix, and little else.

When to use it
MagicVerb is the pick when you want convincing chamber and room sound with almost no setup. Compared with ValhallaVintageVerb it has far fewer modes and no colour or damping controls, but its chambers aim at real spaces rather than the sound of 1980s digital units. Against FabFilter Pro-R 2 it offers nothing in the way of EQ or visual feedback, which is the point: you choose a space, set length and level, and move on. For more realistic recorded rooms with deeper editing, LiquidSonics Cinematic Rooms or Valhalla Room go further, at the cost of more decisions.
- Best for: chamber sends on vocals, drums and guitars, and adding natural room tone as an insert.
- Genres: any; DDMF built it as a general-purpose utility reverb.
- Look elsewhere if: you want detailed EQ and decay shaping (Pro-R 2), lots of vintage digital flavours (VintageVerb) or modulated special-effect spaces.
- Tip: if a chamber doesn't sit right, try another chamber model before touching the controls (Tape Op).
What producers say
Tape Op rated it highly as a simple, great-sounding chamber reverb.
- Tape Op (Dan Knobler, issue 150, 2022) called it "easy to use, hard to make sound bad", praising the chamber emulations, the playful interface and how Input Gain mimics a real chamber's response.
- Criticisms: at the time it had no built-in filters, though DDMF had promised to add them in an update.
