What it does
IIEQPro is DDMF's all-purpose parametric EQ for mixing and mastering, with many bands and filter shapes. The developer stresses "very low CPU consumption" without trading away sound quality.
- 24 bands: 24 fully parametric bands, and one click on the display dials in a new band.
- 27 filter types: per band, including analog and digital peak, notch and pass filters, plus seven Butterworth types with slopes from 6 to 60 dB/oct.
- Accuracy: 64-bit processing with very low noise, and filters adjusted to avoid digital artefacts near the top of the spectrum.
- Stereo: a switchable two-channel mode that works in L/R or mid-side.
- Routing: bands can run in series or in parallel.
- Analyzer: a high-precision pre/post frequency analyzer with zoom and scroll.
- Workflow: autolisten for finding problem frequencies, A/B comparison, a resizable interface, and multitrack editing of several instances from one window.
KVR lists version 3.8.7. Free demos are available, and a PDF manual is provided.
When to use it
IIEQPro is the budget pick for a full static parametric EQ. Compared with FabFilter Pro-Q 4, it offers the same 24-band count, mid-side work and an analyzer at a fraction of the price, but it has no dynamic EQ and a plainer interface. TDR Nova is free and adds dynamic bands, while IIEQPro gives far more bands and filter shapes. Its multitrack window, which edits several instances at once, is a workflow feature few EQs have. Against DDMF's own GrandEQ, it is the more flexible mixing tool, while GrandEQ is the more focused mastering EQ.
- Best for: surgical cuts, taming resonances and general tone shaping on tracks, buses and masters, especially in CPU-heavy sessions.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need dynamic EQ bands; TDR Nova or Pro-Q 4 have them.
- Tip: KVR users use the mid-side mode with its separate analyzers for mastering, and autolisten to hunt down resonances.
What producers say
Users praise its sound, low CPU use and value; complaints are about small interface glitches.
- KVR users rate it 4.5 out of 5 from 4 reviews (2010 to 2020). One called it "better than basic DAW EQ" with less CPU use; another said everything with it on sounds "a little bit nicer, slicker".
- Audiofanzine user (2011) rated it 5/5 as a transparent EQ with negligible CPU use that holds up against FabFilter at a much lower price.
- Criticisms: GUI instability in some hosts such as Maschine, presets not loading until a knob is moved in Reason 10, and an analyzer that could be smoother.
