What it does
Redoptor 2 is a "Vintage Tube Distortion effect" built on an exact tube and coupled-circuit emulation, with dynamics and EQ stages around it to shape the drive.
- Tube stage: a modeled tube distortion with a Bias parameter for harmonic enhancement and transient reshaping.
- Pre-gain compressor: shapes dynamics before the distortion stage.
- EQ and filter: a 4-band parametric EQ and a high/low-cut prefilter that can sit before or after processing.
- Output limiter: a master limiter controls peaks after the drive.
- Workflow: multiple UI sizes with HiDPI support and MIDI Learn.
The current version is 2.2.2, at sample rates of 44.1 kHz and up.

When to use it
Redoptor 2 overlaps with Soundtoys Decapitator, FabFilter Saturn 2 and D16's own Devastor 2. It is a single tube-drive color with built-in compression and EQ, where Saturn 2 is multiband with many distortion types and Devastor 2 is D16's multiband clipper-style distortion; pick Redoptor 2 when you want one warm tube character, from subtle to aggressive, at a low price.
- Best for: warming drums, bass and synths, adding tube grit to vocals and guitars, and parallel drive.
- Genres: electronic, rock, hip-hop, metal and lo-fi.
- Look elsewhere if: you need multiband processing or many distortion flavors in one plugin.
- Standout: the tube Bias control combined with a pre-gain compressor for dynamic control of the drive.
