Phoscyon 2 by D16 Group

Phoscyon 2 is D16 Group's emulation of the Roland TB-303 bass line, rebuilt from scratch with a redesigned signal path.

It pairs the 303 voice with a classic-or-modern pattern sequencer, an arpeggiator and 19 distortion models, and exports patterns as MIDI by drag and drop.

Best for: Bass, Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: Electronic & EDM, Hip-Hop & Trap, Lo-Fi.

Keywords: hardware emulation, sequencer, basses, classic, arpeggiator, modern, analog, 80s, inspired by, polyphonic, preset-driven, sound design, subtractive, vintage.

What it does

Phoscyon 2's tagline is "Get the last 303": an emulation of the silver box with completely rewritten code, plus sequencing and effects the hardware never had.

The current version is 2.1.0, at sample rates of 44.1 kHz and up.

When to use it

Phoscyon 2 is a more fully featured acid box than its nearest alternatives on the site, Kreuzberg Audio KA-303 and TAL-BassLine-101, with a deep sequencer, arpeggiator and 19 distortions built in; pick TAL-BassLine-101 for a cheaper SH-101-style mono bass, or a general synth like Diva if you want 303 tones as just one option among many.

What producers say

Reviewers and users rate it highly for sound and sequencing; the main complaints are small workflow limits.
