What it does
Devastor 2 is D16's multiband distortion unit, built around a low-aliasing diode clipper emulation and three synth-style filters.
- Diode clipper: six clipping curves with Preamp, Threshold, Shape and Clip controls.
- Three filters: resonant low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and band-reject modes that do the band splitting.
- Nine routings: topologies that place the filters before, after or around the clipper.
- Dynamics: a one-knob "dynamics flattener" compressor on the input, and an optional output limiter with automatic make-up gain.
The current version is 2.3.2.

When to use it
Devastor 2 is the simple, focused option: one very good-sounding clipper and three analog-style filters, without the modulation of Rift or COLDFIRE or the style range of Saturn 2. Its lush resonant filters make it a natural fit for acid lines and synth grit.
- Best for: acid basslines, gritty drums and synths, and adding analog-style bite with filter sweeps.
- Genres: techno, acid, house, electro and industrial.
- Look elsewhere if: you want built-in modulation; there are no LFOs or envelopes, so sweeps need automation.
What producers say
Reviews praise its sound and value, with the lack of modulation the main complaint.
- Computer Music / MusicRadar (2016) praised the "awesome sound", lush filters and routing options, and called it a powerful tool for every genre.
- Rekkerd (2015) called it a "no-nonsense distortion unit" with a musical quality and high-quality sound.
- Gripes: no modulation options for the filters.
