What it does

High Flyer is a phaser from Cut Classic, sold through Plugin Alliance. It aims to capture the "swirling, hypnotic soundscapes of 70s phasers" and adds analog-style preamp warmth, retro 8-bit sampling and modern textures. It is inspired by vintage phasers rather than modelled on one unit.

Version 1.0.0 was released in April 2025. It has been on sale. A 14-day trial is available, and it is included in the CORE and PRO subscriptions.

When to use it

High Flyer is the pick when you want a 70s-style phaser that can also dirty and degrade the sound. Compared with Soundtoys PhaseMistress, it adds a saturating preamp, 8-bit resampling and an endless Shepard-style sweep, so it reaches further into texture and sound design. Compared with Arturia Phaser BI-TRON, it is less about recreating one classic unit and more about combining phasing with lo-fi colour. Unlike ShaperBox 3 or Portal, it stays a phaser at heart, which keeps it simpler to set up, and it is often discounted well below its list price.

What producers say

Feedback so far is light but positive, mainly on its old-school sound and low sale prices.
