What it does

Chrome 2000 is a preset-based instrument in Cradle's State Machine series, aimed at "the unmistakable sound of 2000s DnB & Jungle": lush pads, deep basses and floating arps built from vintage synth sources.

The current version is 1.0.1. It is also part of a bundle of all nine State Machines. A 14-day free trial is available.

When to use it

Chrome 2000 is the faster route to the early-2000s liquid and jungle palette: you browse ready pads, basses and arps instead of building them. Compared with Serum 2 or Vital, it gives you far less synthesis control, but the era's sounds are already designed and mixed. Compared with Omnisphere 3, it is a much smaller, single-theme library, which makes it quicker to browse when you only want that DnB atmosphere. Cradle also pitches it for experimental pop, R&B, techno and IDM, where its pads and arps work as texture.
