What it does

Orion is a drum bus processor made with Jaycen Joshua, combining saturation, compression, harmonic tools and parallel processing in one plugin. Cradle's aim was to "replace" and "improve upon" his drum workflow.

Drive: saturation with three colours (A, B and C) and a high-pass button.
Harmonics: adds low-end harmonics at a fixed 50 Hz or 80 Hz.
Compression: two modes, A and B, centred around roughly 100 Hz and 40 Hz, with a snappy release.
Lift: opens up the top end for brightness and clarity.
Harmonic EQ: a 5-band fixed-frequency EQ that saturates as it adds gain at each band.
Parallels: four parallel flavours, Grit, Sub, Loud and Low, blended in without setting up parallel buses.
Target meters: show presence and weight to guide gain staging; latency is very low.

When to use it

Orion suits producers who want a drum bus that sounds big quickly without building parallel compression and saturation chains by hand. Compared with Kilohearts' Multipass, it is fixed rather than modular: the frequencies and modes are preset, but you get weight, punch and sheen from a handful of switches. Next to Soundtoys' Effect Rack, it is narrower and focused only on drums, with its parallel paths already tuned. Compared with simpler drum tools such as XLN Audio's DB-30 Drum Butter, it gives you more separate stages to switch, though Audio Plugin Guy found it heavy on CPU.

Best for: drum buses, kicks and 808-heavy beats that need low-end weight, punch and top-end lift.
Genres: hip-hop, pop, R&B and electronic music.
Look elsewhere if: you want precise control over compression or transients; a dedicated compressor or transient shaper is more surgical.
Tip: use it selectively on the drum bus alongside your usual tools rather than as a full replacement; the Drive section has no mix knob, so go easy on it.

Reviewed as a quick, good-looking drum bus tool that saves setup time, with some limits on control.

Audio Plugin Guy scored it 4.2 out of 5, praising the interface, the gain-staging guidance and Lift for a "quick breath of life on drums"; it wanted a mix knob on Drive and gain matching, found the parallels less impactful than hoped, and noted high CPU use.
Criticisms: A single KVR user review (2 out of 5) says the plugin itself is good but reports Cradle Hub freezes, random deactivation and slowdowns in sessions with 20 or more Cradle plugins.
