ChowMultiTool is a "Swiss Army Knife" plugin that bundles several small mixing and sound design tools in one interface.
Its tools include a linear-phase-capable EQ, an analog-style EQ, a waveshaper, a band-splitter, brickwall and state variable filters, and a signal generator, all free.
Best for: Mix Bus, Keys & Synths, Drums, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: multi-band, free, linear-phase, sound design, mixing, open source, bus processing, CLAP, creative, drums, full mix, hardware emulation, mix bus, oversampling, vintage.
What it does
ChowMultiTool is Chowdhury DSP's free "Swiss Army Knife" plugin: one plugin holding a set of everyday tools, so you load it once and pick the processor you need.
- EQ: an eight-band parametric EQ with a linear phase option and a drawable mode. You drag control points for frequency and gain and pick filter shapes from a menu, and the developer says the response stays natural close to Nyquist.
- Analog-style EQ: a separate EQ modelled on vintage hardware.
- Waveshaper: eleven waveshaping modes with built-in oversampling and low aliasing. Math mode lets you type an equation to define your own curve.
- Band-Splitter: splits the signal into frequency bands with multiple outputs and perfect reconstruction, so you can process each band with other plugins.
- Filters: brickwall filters, plus state variable filters with keytracking and parameter modulation (modulation in the CLAP version only).
- Signal Generator: generates tones for testing and synthesis.
Version 1.1.0 is free and open source (GPLv3). Downloads come from GitHub.

When to use it
ChowMultiTool is the pick when you want several basic tools in one free plugin rather than a chain of separate ones. Compared with Kilohearts' Multipass, it offers fixed tools instead of a modular rack of effects, but its Band-Splitter outputs let you build multiband chains with any plugin. Its EQ handles quick linear phase fixes but has none of the dynamic EQ, mid/side or analyser depth of Pro-Q 4. Its waveshaper is more flexible than most free options thanks to the equation mode, though Saturn 2 is far deeper for multiband saturation.
- Best for: quick EQ and filtering, band splitting for multiband processing, custom waveshaping and test tones, all in one free plugin.
- Genres: general purpose; the waveshaper and filters suit electronic sound design.
- Look elsewhere if: you need dynamic EQ, mid/side work or detailed analysis (Pro-Q 4), or a full multi-effect with modulation (Multipass).
- Tip: use the Band-Splitter outputs to turn a single-band plugin into a multiband processor.
