Memorymode 2 by Cherry Audio

Memorymode 2 is Cherry Audio's recreation of the 1982 Memorymoog polysynth, rebuilt with two layers of 16 voices, three oscillators per voice and a ladder filter with 12 and 24 dB slopes.

It adds 22 effects in three chains, a polyphonic step sequencer, arpeggiator, MPE support and over 800 presets, including 100 original Memorymoog patches, for $69.

Best for: Keys & Synths, Bass, Sound Design. Genres: Electronic & EDM, Pop, Ambient & Cinematic, Rock & Indie.

Keywords: polyphonic, arpeggiator, MPE support, sequencer, analog, basses, preset-driven, 80s, analog-sounding, brass, ensemble, fat, hardware emulation, leads, pads, sound design, subtractive, tempo-synced.

What it does

Memorymode 2 is the second version of Cherry Audio's Memorymoog emulation, billed as "Bigger. Bolder. Better." The developer describes it as a full re-engineering rather than a minor update, keeping the three-oscillator voice and ladder filter and building a dual-layer instrument around them.

A free 30-day demo is available.

When to use it

Memorymode 2 is the pick for Memorymoog sounds with modern extras. Compared with Arturia Memory V, which covers the same synth, it adds a second layer, a polyphonic step sequencer per layer and MPE support. It is narrower than u-he Diva, which models several analog synths and filters in one plugin, but it gives a more complete Memorymoog, down to the original factory patches. It also costs less than most rivals.
