Noveltech's vocal enhancer, sold as a native plugin by Plugin Alliance, that adds a polished, airy clarity to raw vocal recordings from one main Enhancement knob.

It uses the same Intelligent Adaptive Filtering as Character, adapting to the source instead of boosting fixed frequencies or adding harmonics like a classic exciter.

What it does

Noveltech Vocal Enhancer is an "audio enhancer that turns dull bedroom recordings into polished vocals," sold by Plugin Alliance. Its Enhancement knob drives a blend of dynamic and frequency-dependent processing based on Noveltech's Intelligent Adaptive Filtering (IAF).

Adaptive processing: IAF reacts to the source rather than statically boosting frequencies or adding harmonics, which the developer says keeps the tone natural even at heavy settings.
Focus Frequency: a Focus Frequency knob and range selectors set which part of the spectrum is enhanced, so it also works on snare, guitars, synths and backing tracks.
Strong Processing: a button for more assertive enhancement, alongside the standard mode.
Auto-Level: automatic gain compensation keeps output level balanced.
Presets: factory presets for a range of sound sources.

Version 1.16.0 (December 2025) added a scalable UI. It is included in Plugin Alliance's CORE and PRO subscriptions and has a 14-day trial.

When to use it

Vocal Enhancer is a one-job tool compared with the site's vocal suites: iZotope Nectar 4 and Waves Clarity Vx do much more (EQ, compression, noise removal), while Waves Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter adds harmonics for brightness. Pick Vocal Enhancer when a raw vocal needs presence and polish and an exciter sounds too harsh; its sibling Noveltech Character covers other sources with the same technology.

Best for: bringing dull or home-recorded vocals forward, and adding bite to snares, guitars and synths.
Genres: pop, hip-hop, R&B and rock, anywhere vocals need a produced sheen.
Look elsewhere if: you need tuning, de-essing, noise repair or full vocal chain processing.
Standout: adaptive enhancement that avoids the brittle side effects of classic exciters.

What producers say

Most reviewers and users find it effective on vocals and beyond, though one forum user heard little more than EQ and compression.

Sound On Sound (2014) found treated vocals "closer, more intimate, more 'in focus'" and preferred it to Character for vocals.
KVR forum (2017) one user now uses it "in most vocal productions"; another said it makes a snare bite "like Animal from the Muppet Show."
Gripe: a Steinberg forum user (2015) called it "an EQ/Compressor hiding in a preset driven interface" and was not impressed.
