What it does

Noveltech Character is an enhancer based on Noveltech's Intelligent Adaptive Filtering (IAF) technology, sold by Plugin Alliance. The developer says it "intelligently enhances the tonal spectrum and dynamics(!)" of instruments and vocals by adjusting complex parameter sets rather than boosting one frequency region.

Version 1.18.0 (November 2025) added a scalable UI, undo and redo, and a global Power control. It is included in Plugin Alliance's CORE and PRO subscriptions and has a 14-day trial.

When to use it

Noveltech Character reshapes what is already in the signal, dynamically, so it suits sources where added harmonics would sound harsh. Unlike Waves Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter and SPL Vitalizer MK3-T, which generate or shape upper harmonics, or Brainworx's own bx_enhancer, a quick EQ-style enhancer, it does not add harmonics or boost a band. oeksound spiff is closer in approach but focuses on transient cutting and boosting.

What producers say

Reviewers and forum users praise it for clarity without harshness; the main caution is not to overdo it.
