Re-Guitar changes the tone of a recorded guitar to sound like other pickups or guitar types, from single coils and humbuckers to acoustic and piezo.

What it does

Re-Guitar is a guitar pickup and body modeler. It changes the character of a guitar that is already recorded, before it reaches an amp, so you can "re-guitar" a part without recording it again.

Single coils (9): hot, vintage, modern, active, Tele, neck+mid, bridge+mid, P90 and P90J.
Humbuckers (9): vintage, classic, ricky, modern, rails, bright, wide, wide (jazz) and jazz box.
Piezo and acoustic: a solid-body piezo, acoustic sim pedal styles, and acoustic bodies such as modern and vintage dreadnought, jumbo, mini jumbo and 000.
Custom models: build your own electric pickup or acoustic guitar models, including on an XY grid (E-Custom) for in-between tones.
Hollow body: add hollow-body character with Thickness and Amount controls.
Guitar controls: virtual volume and tone pots, plus brightness and gain, all automatable.
Workflow: zero latency, no CPU on silence, any sample rate, MIDI Learn, undo/redo and copy/paste between instances.

KVR lists version 1.4; the developer's page shows 1.32 as its latest entry. The demo is limited to 5 instances per session and bypasses the effect for half a second every minute.

When to use it

Re-Guitar works before the amp, so it pairs with any amp sim rather than replacing one. Archetype: Nolly X, Helix Stadium Native or AmpliTube 5 MAX model amps, cabinets and pedals, but none of them change the guitar and pickups feeding them the way Re-Guitar does. That makes it the better pick when the part is good but the guitar is wrong for the mix: a single coil that needs humbucker weight, or an electric DI that should sound more acoustic. It does not replace a real acoustic recording or an amp, and it is a niche tool next to a full amp suite.

Best for: getting more tones from one guitar, fixing DI tones at mixdown, and acoustic-style parts from an electric or classical guitar.
Genres: rock, metal, blues, jazz, pop and acoustic styles.
Look elsewhere if: you need amps and cabinets; use a full amp sim such as Archetype: Nolly X, AmpliTube 5 MAX or Blue Cat's Axiom.
Tip: for an acoustic sound, raise the hollow-body Thickness and Amount; one Sweetwater buyer used this to turn a classical guitar into a steel-string tone.
