What it does

BLEASS Spectral Resonator analyses incoming audio and turns it into banks of tuned harmonics that you can play from MIDI. The developer calls it "the ultimate spectral resonance engine", meant to turn vocals, drums, synths or noise into harmonic textures.

When to use it

BLEASS Spectral Resonator works on harmonics: it takes drums, noise or voices and makes them ring at chosen pitches, closer to a resonator or vocoder than to a granular or delay-based effect. That sets it apart from Portal and Infiltrator 2, which are broad creative multi-effects, and from Graindad, which focuses on granular textures. MIDI mode is the key difference, since you can play chords through any sound and have the texture follow the harmony of the track. It is heavier on CPU than most effects in this category, so it suits featured sounds and transitions more than every channel. For a single plugin that covers many effect types, the broader racks are still the simpler choice.

What producers say

Early reviews are positive about the sound and the approachable design, with CPU load the main caveat.
