What it does

BLEASS Granulizer is a granular effect that chops live audio into grains and scatters them into textures, shimmers and rhythmic patterns. The developer sums it up as a granular texture effect with randomization, four inputs and "a mesmerizing 3D visualizer".

A demo is available. MusicTech counted 44 presets.

When to use it

Granulizer is narrower and cheaper than Graindad, the deeper rated granular tool with more control over grain playback and modulation, and than Portal, Infiltrator 2 and Effectrix2, broader creative effects that do far more than granular work. Two things set it apart: mixing up to four inputs into one grain stream, and a 3D display that shows what the grains are doing. Its random, probability-based design suits happy accidents more than precise, repeatable edits.

What producers say

MusicTech liked its sound and visuals but found it hard to learn without documentation.
