What it does

BLEASS Arpeggiator is a MIDI arpeggiator developed with the French producer Canblaster, built to get past "clichéd up-and-down monophonic patterns". It adds polyrhythms, polyphony and modulation, and includes its own synth so it makes sound on its own.

When to use it

BLEASS Arpeggiator is the better pick when you want an arp that keeps evolving on its own, thanks to polyrhythmic patterns, Chance, two LFOs and a motion sequencer. Compared with a DAW's stock arpeggiator, such as Logic's or Ableton Live's, it adds polyphonic steps, an FM synth and live X-Y control. Compared with Xfer's Cthulhu it has no chord-memory module, but goes much further on rhythm and modulation. Unlike LFO Tool or ShaperBox 3, which shape audio, it works on MIDI notes, so it can drive any synth. Its modulators can't send MIDI CC to external gear, which limits it as a full sequencer.

What producers say

Reviewers rate it highly as a deep, hands-on arpeggiator at a low price; the gripes are about modulation routing and a learning curve.
