Telos - Vocals is a one-plugin vocal chain with filters, tone controls, a one-knob de-esser, two-stage compression, saturation and limiting.

It aims for clear, modern vocals without EQ knowledge, for $149.

Best for: Vocals. Genres: Pop, Hip-Hop & Trap, R&B & Soul, Rock & Indie.

Keywords: vocals, modern, single knob, classic, lead vocals, mixing, oversampling, simple, smooth, warm, beginner-friendly, gritty, heavy, minimal controls, perpetual licence, punchy, subscription, subtle, transparent.

What it does

Telos - Vocals is an all-in-one vocal mixing plugin with ten processing stages behind simple controls. Black Salt Audio built it to give "presence without harshness" and get a vocal mix-ready in minutes, judged by ear rather than by settings.

High and Low Cut: filters for sub rumble and fizzy top end.
Low End and Midrange: one control for mud, warmth and proximity effect, another to cut boxiness or lift the vocal above the mix.
High End: three modes: Top for a classic air boost, Presence for edge and detail, and Air for sparkle without harshness.
De-esser: one knob for harsh s and t sounds.
Two-stage compression: stage 1 smooths dynamics transparently; stage 2 adds Smooth (classic pro vocal) or Aggro (punch for high-energy vocals).
Saturation: Smooth for subtle warmth, Rich for fuller lows, and Aggro for grit and edge.
Limiter and anti-aliasing: a final limiter locks the level, and anti-aliasing reduces digital artefacts at heavy settings (KVR lists 8x oversampling).

KVR lists version 1.1.9. A perpetual license includes free updates and support, a 14-day free trial is available, and it is also part of the Artist Pass subscription (covering all 18 Black Salt Audio plugins).

When to use it

Telos - Vocals is a fixed modern vocal chain of EQ, de-essing, two compressors, saturation and a limiter, with no pitch, time-based effects or visible frequencies. That is narrower than iZotope Nectar 4, the rated all-in-one vocal suite, with an assistant, pitch correction, reverb, delay and many more modules. For de-essing on its own, the rated FabFilter Pro-DS or Sonnox SuprEsser give much finer control than Telos. Telos - Vocals is the better pick when you want a lead vocal, double or harmony clear and forward fast without building a chain, and you plan to add space with separate reverb and delay.

Best for: clear, forward modern lead vocals, doubles and harmonies with little setup.
Genres: pop, hip-hop, R&B and rock.
Look elsewhere if: you also need pitch correction, doubling or reverb in the same plugin; Nectar 4 covers those. For detailed de-essing, use Pro-DS.
