What it does
Telos - Bass is an all-in-one bass plugin that pairs amp-style drive with a complete mixing chain, meant to replace several plugins on a bass track. The developer pitches it as making it easier to "lock in your low end".
- Amp section: Clean, Grit, Grind and Fuzz modes, or bypass the amp entirely.
- Filters: high and low cuts to remove sub rumble and fizzy top end.
- Low-end compressor: keeps the sub punchy and consistent.
- Body: a weight control with its own compressor working on the low mids.
- Clarity: a midrange shaper with frequency selection and a Bright presence boost.
- Bass compression and sub: a one-knob classic bass compressor, plus a sub-harmonic generator that adds super-sub power and upper harmonics.
- Saturation and limiter: Smooth, Hot, Grit and Feather saturation, a peak limiter for consistency, and aliasing reduction.
KVR lists version 1.1.5. A perpetual licence with free updates is available, and a 14-day trial is offered. It is also part of the Artist Pass subscription, which covers all 18 current Black Salt Audio plugins plus future releases.

When to use it
Telos - Bass is the faster route when DI bass needs to sit in a dense mix with little fuss. Compared with iZotope Neutron 5 or Waves Scheps Omni Channel, it gives up general-purpose EQ and detailed control, but every stage is already tuned for bass, including the sub generator and separate sub and low-mid compressors. Unlike a console strip such as SSL Native Channel Strip 2, it adds amp drive and saturation modes, so it can cover tone as well as mixing. It is less of an amp model than a dedicated bass amp sim, though, and the Artist Pass makes it cheap to try alongside the other Telos plugins.
- Best for: turning DI bass into a mix-ready tone fast, or finishing a DI and amp pair.
- Genres: rock, metal, pop and hip-hop.
- Look elsewhere if: you want an accurate model of a specific bass amp or cabinet, or full EQ control; a dedicated bass amp sim or Neutron 5 fits better.
- Tip: in a Home Recording Made Easy session it ran on both the DI and the amp track, with the DI carrying most of the low end and the amp's lows reduced.
