What it does
JULY is AudioThing's Juno-60 style polysynth, released first as JUNE and renamed after Roland contacted the developer. It keeps the simple one-oscillator layout of the original and focuses on the chorus and the feel of the voices, which the developer says it studied for months.
- Oscillator: one DCO with PWM, saw and square waves, plus a sub-oscillator reaching down three octaves.
- Filters: a resonant low-pass filter and a non-resonant high-pass filter.
- Modulation: two envelopes and one LFO with several trigger modes.
- Voicing: six voices with mono, poly and unison modes.
- Arpeggiator: adjustable range, several play modes, bar reset and velocity control.
- Chorus: a BBD-based stereo chorus with modes I, II and I+II, J6 and J60 variants and an adjustable rate multiplier.
- Effects: tape echo, spring reverb, overdrive and phaser, which can be stacked and reordered.
- Interface: resizable, with brightness and contrast controls and five colour schemes.
Version 1.2.1 (April 2026). The demo goes silent for 3 seconds every 45 seconds and cannot save.

When to use it
JULY is a focused Juno-60 recreation with effects built in, so it is quicker to program than the large rated synths. Compared with Diva, it has one oscillator and one filter model instead of several, but it gets to classic chorused pads in a few moves. Unlike Serum 2 or Pigments 7, it has no wavetables or modulation matrix; its scope is one vintage voice done simply. It is similar in aim to Arturia's Jun-6 V and TAL-U-NO-LX, and it adds a chained tape echo, spring reverb, overdrive and phaser.
- Best for: lush chorused pads, poly chords, simple basses, arpeggios and 80s-style leads.
- Genres: synth-pop, synthwave, lo-fi, house and ambient.
- Look elsewhere if: you want several oscillators or deep modulation; Diva, Serum 2 or Pigments 7 go much further.
What producers say
Coverage so far is limited to first impressions, which are positive about the sound.
- Synth Anatomy said of the demo that "it gives me Juno vibes" and liked the output very much.
- Caveat: the same writer noted they could not judge how faithful it is without owning the original hardware.
