What it does

Flanger 117 is Audiority's "Vintage Flanger Pedal" plugin, a BBD flanger based on the MXR M117, a widely used 1970s pedal. The developer aims to reproduce the original's sound and behaviour and then extend it with modern features.

The current version is 1.0.1 (May 2026). A demo is available; in demo mode the plugin outputs 3 seconds of silence every minute. The developer suggests it for guitars, synths, bass, vocals and drums.

When to use it

Flanger 117 gives the thick, high-regeneration MXR pedal sound, with through-zero and envelope modes for more modern sweeps. Compared with Chief Flanger, from the same developer, it has a darker pedal character and more ways to move the sweep, but no Hi-Band mode. Compared with Instant Flanger Mk II, it is a pedal model rather than a studio unit, with a drive control in the feedback loop. It is a more focused flanger than PhaseMistress, which is a deep phaser.
