What it does

Dr Phase is Audiority's free analog-modeled phaser, based on the MXR Phase 90 pedal from the early 1970s. Like the pedal it centres on one speed knob, with a few studio extras added around it.

The current version is 1.3 (December 2025, a maintenance rollup). It is free.

When to use it

Dr Phase is the pick when you want the classic Phase 90 swirl with almost no setup, at no cost. Compared with PhaseMistress it is far simpler: there is no choice of stage count beyond the 2-stage switch, and no resonance, LFO shape or envelope control, but one knob gets you a familiar pedal sweep. Unlike MicroShift, which thickens and widens with subtle pitch-shifted delays, Dr Phase gives an obvious moving phase sweep. It also does far less than ShaperBox 3 or Portal, which suits anyone who just wants a phaser pedal in the DAW.

What producers say

There are no in-depth reviews, but Bedroom Producers Blog's write-up is positive about its simple, pedal-like design.
