Doomagorgon combines an octave fuzz channel and a chainsaw distortion channel, aimed at doom and death metal tones.
Each channel has its own tone shaping and mod switch, with a transposer and noise gate built in, for $49.
Best for: Guitars, Bass, Sound Design. Genres: Metal, Rock & Indie.
Keywords: fuzz, electric guitar, bass, hardware emulation, aggressive, creative, dirty, hard clip, metering, built-in mix knob, mixing, resizable UI, single-band, sound design, thick, utility.
What it does
Doomagorgon is Audiority's "Brutal Fuzz & Distortion" plugin for heavy guitar and bass. It joins one half of a Boss FZ-2 (the Univox Super-Fuzz channel) with one half of an HM-2, which the developer calls a "two-headed infernal riff beast".
- Octave fuzz channel: the Super-Fuzz side of the FZ-2, with its own tone shaping, for thick fuzz with an octave character.
- Chainsaw channel: the HM-2 side, also with independent tone shaping, for the scooped, buzzing tone of Swedish death metal.
- FILTH MOD: a switch on the fuzz channel that doubles down on distortion and adds a deeper mid scoop.
- RAT MOD: a switch on the chainsaw channel that changes it to RAT-style hard clipping.
- Transposer: built-in pitch transposing, so you can play down-tuned riffs without retuning the instrument.
- Noise gate: built in, to keep high-gain fuzz quiet between notes.
- Utilities: pre and post effect gain, a mix control for blending in the dry signal, level meters and a resizable interface.
Version 1.0 was released in June 2024. The developer's shop often has it on sale. A demo is available; in demo mode it outputs 3 seconds of silence every minute.

When to use it
Doomagorgon is narrow on purpose: it is a stomp box for fuzz and chainsaw tones in front of an amp sim, not a general saturation tool. Compared with Saturn 2 or Rift it has far fewer modes and no multiband or modulation, but it gets to an HM-2 or Super-Fuzz sound in seconds and costs much less. Next to Eventide CrushStation, which is a broader creative drive with sag and octave effects, Doomagorgon is more focused on two specific vintage pedal circuits. The built-in transposer and gate also make it easier than most distortion plugins to get a down-tuned, tight metal tone from a standard-tuned guitar.
- Best for: doom, sludge, stoner and death metal guitar and bass, placed before an amp sim.
- Genres: metal, hardcore and heavy rock.
- Look elsewhere if: you want gentle drive or mix-bus saturation; Saturn 2 or a tape plugin suit that better, and The Scream is the pick for smooth overdrive.
