Chordjam by Audiomodern

Chordjam is a MIDI chord and progression generator that builds patterns through guided randomisation, with a sequencer, arpeggiator and MPE support.

Chords can glide, be played from performance pads and be dragged into the DAW as MIDI, for €49 (about $55.64).

Best for: Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: Electronic & EDM, Hip-Hop & Trap, Pop, Lo-Fi.

Keywords: randomize, MPE support, creative, AI assistant, keys, lo-fi, MIDI-controllable, rhythmic, sound design, pads, utility.

What it does

Chordjam is Audiomodern's MIDI chord and pattern generator. It builds progressions through controlled randomisation, so you guide how far things change rather than starting from music theory; Computer Music called it "a creative real-time compositional assistant."

The current version is 1.5. A trial is available.

When to use it

Chordjam leans on guided randomness: you set ranges and let it generate progressions and patterns, then keep what works. That is a different approach from Scaler, which is built around music theory, keys and scales, and from Xfer's Cthulhu, a chord memory and arpeggiator. That suits producers who want fresh starting points more than a theory reference. Its sister plugin Riffer applies the same approach to single-note melodies and riffs, where Chordjam handles chords.

What producers say

Reviewers and users see it as an easy, inspiring writing tool; the only real complaint is that MPE could go further.
