What it does
ADverb2 aims for "the lush, character-rich sound of vintage digital plate reverb" from early-1980s studio units, with a small set of switches and knobs that are quick to set.
- Plate: the original ADverb engine, a classic digital plate with fast build-up and a smooth decay.
- Ambience: a modern diffusion design with early energy that varies over time.
- Hall: an eight-line design with slow internal motion, built to be very smooth and very wide.
- Time and size: pre-delay from 0 to 200 ms, reverb time from 0.1 to 9.9 seconds, and a Size control that scales the internal geometry.
- Tone switches: three-position Low Contour and High Contour switches, a three-position Rolloff for high-frequency damping, and a three-position Diffusion for echo density.
- Performance switches: Input Mute and Reverb Stop kill switches for live tricks, plus a Mix Lock control.
- Presets: 100 factory presets in a browser with folders and favorites.
Version 2.3. A fully working demo runs for 20 minutes per session with saving disabled.

When to use it
ADverb2 is a cheap, fast way to get a classic digital plate, room or hall with very few decisions. Compared with VintageVerb, it has three algorithms instead of 22 and switches instead of continuous tone controls, so it is quicker to set but less flexible. It is far simpler than Pro-R 2, with no EQ display or decay-rate curves, and it does not try to reproduce one specific unit as closely as LX480 or SP2016 Reverb. The Input Mute and Reverb Stop switches make it more useful than most of these for live dub-style throws and sudden cuts.
- Best for: vocal and snare plates, quick ambience on mixes, and live reverb throws.
- Genres: pop, rock, dub, synth-pop and 1980s-style productions.
- Look elsewhere if: you want deep editing or huge modulated spaces; Pro-R 2, Supermassive or VintageVerb do more.
