Selene by Auburn Sounds

Selene is an algorithmic reverb from Auburn Sounds that covers small realistic spaces through to huge, frozen tails.

It builds in duck and gate, an 8-band damping EQ, Vintage, Diffusion and Drive controls, and in the Full edition a four-mode shimmer and 2x oversampling. A free edition is available.

Best for: Vocals, Keys & Synths, Guitars, Acoustic Instruments, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: algorithmic, freeze, ducking, shimmer, freemium, mixing, oversampling, vocals, ambience, classic, hall, huge, infinite, lush, piano, plate, simple, sound design, pads, wet.

What it does

Selene is Auburn Sounds' "versatile algorithmic reverb," meant to create lush, large spaces that still fit in the mix.

Version 1.1. The free edition is a download; the Full edition is paid.

When to use it

Selene is a lower-cost alternative to algorithmic reverbs such as Valhalla VintageVerb, Valhalla Supermassive and FabFilter Pro-R 2. Choose it when you want built-in ducking and gating, freeze and shimmer in one reverb, or a capable free edition. VintageVerb has more vintage-style modes, and Pro-R 2 gives finer decay-by-frequency control.

What producers say

Early KVR forum reactions were positive about the sound and controls, with one complaint about the preset browser.
