Wurli V

Not rated yet
Wurli V is Arturia's physically modeled Wurlitzer electric piano, covering the 200 and 200a in standard and bass versions.
Version 3 rebuilt it with Arturia's Phi modeling and a four-slot pedal rig that includes Twin amp and Leslie simulations.
Best for: Keys & Synths. Genres: R&B & Soul, Rock & Indie, Pop, Lo-Fi, Jazz, Acoustic & Classical.
Keywords: electric piano, physical modelling, lo-fi, classic, CPU-light, hardware emulation, 60s, 70s, creative, gritty, vintage.
What it does
Wurli V recreates the Wurlitzer reed piano, which Arturia describes as "soulful electric bite." It uses physical modeling rather than samples, and Arturia describes it as highly CPU-efficient.
- Four models: the Wurlitzer 200, 200 Bass, 200a and 200a Bass.
- Modeled circuit: modeled EQ, tremolo and output stage, plus an Age control for detune.
- Effects rig: four pedal slots with 16 effect profiles, and Twin amp or Leslie speaker simulation.
- Playing feel: an advanced velocity curve editor to match your keyboard.
- Presets: 64 factory presets in Classic, Creative and Tribute categories.
When to use it
Wurli V is a modeled instrument rather than a sampled one, unlike the other Wurlitzer options on the site such as Spitfire Audio's Originals Wurli, Waves Electric 200 Piano and the electric pianos in Universal Audio's Electra 88 Vintage Keyboard Studio. Pick it if you want low CPU use and deep control over the piano and its amp and pedal chain.
- Best for: funk and soul keys, classic rock Wurli parts, and gritty lo-fi electric piano.
- Genres: R&B and soul, rock and indie, pop, lo-fi and jazz.
- Look elsewhere if: you prefer the detail of a multisampled instrument; Originals Wurli or Electric 200 Piano take that route.
- Standout: the choice of four Wurlitzer models, including the bass variants.
What producers say
Sound On Sound liked version 3 but found it different enough from version 2 that it advised keeping the older one.
- Sound On Sound (2024) found that "the two don't map from one to the other" when recreating V2 sounds, and said to "choose whichever works best."
- Gripe: the same review advised, "if you have V2, I recommend that you hang on to it."
