What it does
Pre V76 recreates the Telefunken V76 tube preamp together with a modified V612 equalizer.
- Preamp: 73 dB of continuous input gain, with soft-clipping saturation.
- EQ: two-band V612 high and low shelves, plus or minus 10 dB.
- Filter: high-pass at 80 Hz, 300 Hz or both.
- Other: switchable Carnill or Marinair transformers, mid/side mode, output trim (plus or minus 24 dB) and automatic gain control.
It is in FX Collection Pro.
When to use it
Pre V76 is the tube-saturation option among Arturia's preamps. It is simpler than Pre 1973 and Pre TridA, with only two EQ bands, so it's about warmth and drive rather than shaping. Among saturation plugins, it is a tube preamp stage rather than a tape or general-purpose saturator.
- Best for: vocals, bass, drums and guitars where a tube glow is wanted.
- Genres: 60s-style pop and rock, soul, blues and indie.
Where to buy
- Arturia: $49 (US price (Arturia lists the same amount in USD and EUR))
- Plugin Boutique: $49
