What it does
Filter MS-20 is a stereo filter and distortion effect modelled on the Korg MS-20 synthesizer, meant for adding aggression and character.
- Filters: resonant low-pass and high-pass with a master cutoff.
- Distortion: an ESP distortion circuit with input filtering; routing can be distortion into filter or filter into distortion.
- Stereo: a stereo offset control for width, plus dry/wet and level.
- Modulation: an envelope follower, a 16-step sequencer (synced, randomisable) and a function generator, with a Movement macro for overall intensity.
It is also in FX Collection Pro.
When to use it
Filter MS-20 is the gritty, screaming option: the MS-20's resonant filter pairs with built-in distortion, so it fits sounds that should sound dirty rather than smooth. Filter MINI is warmer and cleaner.
