What it does
Dist TUBE-CULTURE emulates the Thermionic Culture Culture Vulture, a valve-driven stereo distortion unit from 1998.
- Tube controls: Drive, Bias and a function selector with Triode and Pentode 1, 2 and 3 modes.
- Tone: Presence and Air switches, and an output EQ with low-pass, high-pass and a 630 Hz tilt.
- Mixing tools: dry/wet blend for parallel distortion, stereo mode selector, a Dynamics control (gate/compressor) and gain compensation.
- Extras: ammeter/VU display, preset browser and in-app tutorials; built with TAE and included in FX Collection Pro.
When to use it
Arturia describes it as ranging from mix-gluing saturation to white-hot fuzz. It is a more hardware-specific alternative to Decapitator or Saturation Knob, with the Culture Vulture's Bias control and pentode modes on offer.
- Best for: vocals, drums, guitars and mix-bus warmth.
