What it does
Comp VCA-65 recreates the dbx 165A VCA compressor, modeling the original signal path including the VCA and transistors with Arturia's TAE technology.
- Dynamics: fast attack and release with an Auto mode, ratio from 1:1 to infinity, and a Peakstop limiter.
- Sidechain: seven detection modes including mid/side, an SSL-style sidechain EQ and a manual trigger pad.
- Extras: Time Warp function, look-ahead/delay, compression range limit, dry/wet for parallel work and an analog VU meter with three calibration modes.
When to use it
The hard-hitting, clean-edged option among Arturia's three vintage compressors: use it where the FET-76 would be too coloured and the DIODE-609 too smooth.
- Best for: drums, bass and percussion buses, and punchy parallel compression.
- Genres: rock, hip-hop and electronic.
Where to buy
- Arturia: $79 (US price (Arturia lists the same amount in USD and EUR))
