Invisible Limiter G2 is the second-generation mastering limiter from Tokyo developer A.O.M., aimed at transparent limiting with more user control than the original.

It adds release shape controls, soft knee, channel link, manual attack and release, dither, a sidechain filter and unity-gain monitoring. A perpetual licence costs $199, or $49 for one year.

What it does

Invisible Limiter G2 is A.O.M.'s second-generation transparent mastering limiter. It keeps the clean peak control of the first version and adds more precise control, since the developer sees the modern limiter as an active part of shaping the sound rather than a loudness-war tool.

It works at 44.1 to 192 kHz. It is available as a perpetual licence or a 1-year licence (extendable to perpetual); owners of the original Invisible Limiter can upgrade at a lower price. The page does not mention a demo.

When to use it

Invisible Limiter G2 is the pick when the goal is clean peak reduction with as little audible change as possible. Compared with Pro-L 2, it has fewer limiting styles, no loudness metering and less visual feedback, but it does offer a soft knee and reduction shape controls that Pro-L 2 lacks. Unlike Newfangled Elevate or the Ozone 12 Maximizer, it is a single-band limiter with no multiband processing or tone-shaping extras. Its 1-year licence is also a low-cost way to try it on real projects, given that no demo is listed.

What producers say

Reviewers rate it highly for transparency; the reservations are about scope rather than sound.
