What it does
VEQ-4K Pink is Antelope Audio's model of a late-1980s revision of the four-band EQ module from a landmark British console's channel strip, aiming for "vintage punch, and precise but warm sound-shaping."
- Four bands: with proportional gain behaviour, as on the original module.
- Shelving HF and LF: including the characteristic dip and bump just before the shelf boost or cut.
- Bell option: the low band can switch from shelf to bell.
- Filters: high-pass and low-pass filters for trimming the extremes.
- Extended range: boost and cut up to about 20 dB and a wider frequency range than the hardware.
Version 1.0.0 needs no Antelope hardware. It is also part of the Antelope Cosmos subscription (75+ plugins), which has a free trial.

When to use it
VEQ-4K Pink suits you if you want just the British 4K EQ section, with its shelf bumps and extra range, rather than a full channel strip. Compared with SSL 4K G and bx_console SSL 4000 E, it has no compressor, gate or console features, so it is a lighter, single-purpose insert; Antelope's COMP-4K-STRIP adds the dynamics. Unlike Pro-Q 4 and TDR Nova, it has no analyser or dynamic bands, and its curves follow the console's fixed shapes. It is a more forward, punchy EQ than the Mäag Audio EQ4, which is mostly used for adding air.
- Best for: punchy console EQ on drums, vocals, guitars and bass, and quick shelf moves with a bit of bite.
- Genres: any; especially pop, rock and hip-hop.
- Look elsewhere if: you want the whole console channel in one plugin (SSL 4K G or bx_console SSL 4000 E), or clean, surgical EQ (Pro-Q 4).
