What it does
BAE-10DCF models a 1980s broadcast compressor/limiter that combines the compression specs of the Neve 33609 with the Class A amplifier stage of the Neve 2254. The developer calls it "a multi-purpose 1980s compressor classic", and it can stay fairly transparent or add vintage colour.
- Compressor section: Threshold, Ratio, Attack and Recovery controls.
- Limiter section: its own Threshold, Ratio, Attack and Recovery controls; the two modules work independently and can be used together.
- Auto release: two program-dependent Recovery settings, A1 (100 ms on isolated peaks, 2 s on sustained levels) and A2 (50 ms on peaks, 5 s on sustained levels).
- Bypass filter: an inductor-based sidechain EQ inspired by the 1073's B182 card, using a modelled Carnhill inductor.
- Transformers: the Carnhill and Jensen transformers of the hardware are modelled as part of its colour.
- Gain Make-Up: a dedicated knob to restore level after compression.
- Tracking to mastering: pitched for drums, vocals, guitars and the mix bus.
Version 1.0.2 needs no Antelope hardware. A Synergy Core real-time version also runs on compatible Antelope interfaces.

When to use it
BAE-10DCF is the better pick for smooth, slightly coloured compression with a separate limiter in the same box. Compared with the SSL G-Master Buss Compressor and The Glue it is less about punchy VCA glue and more about the gentle 33609-style control, with program-dependent auto release instead of a fixed release dial. Unlike the Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor, it is not built for aggressive colour or distortion. Compared with Pro-C 3 it has no styles, metering depth or sidechain routing, but it adds transformer tone and a quick two-stage compress-then-limit workflow. At its sale price it costs far less than most of these.
- Best for: mix bus and drum bus glue, controlled vocals, and catching peaks with the limiter after gentle compression.
- Genres: any; it is a general mixing and mastering compressor.
- Look elsewhere if: you want punchy SSL-style bus compression (The Glue or the SSL G-Master Buss Compressor) or detailed modern control and metering (Pro-C 3).
What producers say
Buyers like its warm tone, versatility and low CPU use; there are few detailed reviews so far.
- Plugin Boutique users rate it 4.5 out of 5 from 13 ratings, saying it adds "glue, punch, and grit without squashing" on mix bus, drums, vocals and guitars, with a clean interface.
- mixing.co.kr found it reduced dynamic range smoothly in a review of Antelope's native plugin series.
- Comparisons: some Plugin Boutique reviewers compared it favourably with SSL bus compression and noted a tighter low end.
