What it does
Mutator is a voice design plugin that Antares calls an "Extreme Voice Designer", for alien, monster and robotic voices.
- Pitch and formant: high-quality pitch shifting and formant controls.
- Mutation: 24 varieties of ring-modulation-based mutation effects.
- Alienize: a tempo-synced function that reverses vocal segments, plus a UFO mode.
- Modelling: uses throat modelling and pitch tracking.
When to use it
Mutator is for extreme sound design rather than tuning or polish. Compared with Throat, which reshapes a voice more naturally, and Vocodist, which is a classic vocoder, it is more extreme. Suited to monster, robot and glitchy effects.
