What it does

Loades is a de-esser that Analog Obsession describes as smooth but powerful, for taming sibilance or harsh highs.

Detection: threshold with a 60 dB range, release from 1 to 500 ms.
Modes: a Band/Shelf switch for the processing type, and a Soft mode for more transparent results.
Levels: Mix knob and +/-30 dB input and output gain.

Version 2.0 is free from the developer's Patreon.

When to use it

Handles vocal sibilance, and can also tame bright instruments or a whole mix. The developer suggests using it as a general high-frequency tamer for a warmer sound. Loades keeps it simple, while dedicated paid options like FabFilter Pro-DS show more of what's happening visually.
