What it does

Kolin is a vari-mu limiter (vintage limiting amplifier style) with extra flexibility.

Timing: attack from 1 to 50 ms, release from 0.1 to 3 seconds.
Sidechain: high-pass filter from 20 to 500 Hz and an external sidechain input.
Levels: dry/wet Mix and +/-20 dB input and output controls.
Extras: 4x oversampling and a resizable interface (50 to 200%).

Version 5.1.0 is free from the developer's Patreon.

When to use it

A coloured, vari-mu style limiter for tone and glue rather than transparent peak limiting. The Mix control makes parallel compression easy without a second bus. For clean brickwall mastering, FabFilter Pro-L 2 or Sonnox Oxford Limiter are better matches.

Best for: drum buses, mix bus, bass and vocals where you want a smooth vintage feel.
