What it does

AHEAD is a free, pedal-style guitar amp simulator that packs several amp voicings into one plugin.

Four amp models: one M-Type, two F-Type and a custom design.
Gain: two volume knobs set the drive; the M-JTAMP model uses both.
Tone: an M-Type tonestack and a master volume.
Bypass: a main bypass switch with a footswitch-style option.

The current version is 1.0.

When to use it

AHEAD is a simple, low-cost way to try a few amp characters with very few controls. It is much smaller than the amp suites in the rated list, such as Guitar Rig 7 Pro or AmpliTube 5 MAX.

Best for: quick rock, blues and crunch guitar tones, and for adding amp-style grit to other sources.
Look elsewhere if: you want a full rig with cabinets and effects, or capture-based modelling such as Neural Amp Modeler or TONEX.
