It has fingerstyle and pick libraries, 10 articulations, a built-in amp section, a riff editor and Guitar Pro tab import. It costs $149.

Best for: Guitars. Genres: Jazz, Acoustic & Classical, R&B & Soul, Rock & Indie.

Keywords: guitar instrument, sample-based, warm, chord generator, clean, monophonic, leads, polyphonic, sequencer, smooth.

What it does

Ample Guitar Semi Hollow samples a Gibson ES-335 played on its neck pickup. The developer says it "sounds warm and soft" and aims it at jazz fusion and blues.

The product page shows no version number; Thomann lists it as version 4.

When to use it

Ample Guitar Semi Hollow is one of the few sampled guitars built for a warm jazz-box tone rather than rock. It sits at the opposite end from Heavier7Strings (Three-Body Technology), the rated guitar instrument on the site, which is aimed at high-gain metal. Unlike Tonalic (Celemony, rated), which offers recorded human performances that follow your chords but is an acoustic tool, it is a hollow-body electric. Like MusicLab's RealGuitar line, it is a sampled guitar with MIDI tools. Within Ample's range, the TC and LP electrics are brighter; Semi Hollow is the pick for mellow, rounded lines and comping, with its own amp section so it works without extra plugins.

What producers say

Feedback is positive and centres on the soft, buttery tone; most of it covers the earlier Hollow II edition.
