Not rated yet
A drum sample organiser that uses AI to place your samples on a map by sound, with a drum-kit builder and a step sequencer.
It is used to browse large sample collections by ear, build kits quickly and sketch beats, exporting MIDI or audio to your DAW.
Best for: Drums, Sound Design. Genres: Hip-Hop & Trap, Electronic & EDM, Lo-Fi.
Keywords: sequencer, AI/machine learning, AI assistant, lo-fi, sound design.
What it does
Atlas 2 turns your drum samples into a map, grouped by how they sound, so you can find and combine sounds without scrolling file lists.
- Sample map: AI analysis lays out your samples by similarity; you can keep several maps and switch between them.
- Kit creator: pick sounds or let it suggest a kit; pad layouts of 1x8, 2x8, 4x4 or 8x8, a variation engine for humanised playback, and samples embedded in your DAW project.
- Sequencer: step sequencer and piano roll combined, with polyrhythms, triplets, fills, live recording, MIDI import and MIDI/audio export.
- Browser: file-system browser for kits and sequences, 1,500 sample maps and downloadable expansions.
When to use it
Atlas 2 is a direct alternative to XO: both map your drum samples by sound and pair the map with a sequencer. Atlas is cheaper and has more flexible pad layouts; XO has a larger built-in library and wider coverage. Good for hip-hop, lo-fi and electronic producers with big, messy sample folders.
What producers say
- LANDR (2026 guide) recommends it for producers overwhelmed by sample organisation, describing an easy map of sounds placed by sonic similarity.
Where to buy
- Algonaut: $99 (Upgrade from Atlas 1 is $19)
