Fabric Vintage Jup is a sample-based synth from AIR's Fabric line inspired by the iconic 1980s polysynth its name refers to.
It has multi-sample oscillators, an MPE-ready arpeggiator, distortion, delay and reverb, and costs $99.

What it does
Fabric Vintage Jup is part of AIR's Fabric Vintage series, built on the Fabric multi-sample engine. It draws on "a quintessential polyphonic analog subtractive synthesizer" of the 1980s, played back from multi-samples and combined with modern modulation and effects.
- Two multi-sample oscillators: categorized sample selectors with volume, pan, formant, octave/coarse/fine tuning, pitch randomization, drift and sample start offset.
- Sub and noise: a virtual analog sub oscillator with four wave shapes and its own filter, plus a noise generator with filter, decay and release offset.
- Filter and envelopes: a global filter with its own ADSR (bipolar depth, velocity), an amp ADSR with velocity-to-attack, and a pitch ADSR.
- LFOs: one per oscillator, one for noise and a global LFO, each with eight shapes, BPM sync and fade-in.
- Arpeggiator: multiple shapes and note orders, swing, freeze, repeat, ratchet, octave randomization and pause, with MPE support.
- Effects: distortion with 12 models, a single/dual/cross delay with BPM sync, and a reverb with 12 models and 16 early-reflection types.
- Front panel and control: eight macros, oscillator and FX toggles, a synth edit page shared across the series, and assignable mod wheel, aftertouch, expression and footswitch.
A 10-day trial is available for the desktop versions. It is also part of the Fabric Vintage Synths Vol. 1 bundle.

When to use it
Fabric Vintage Jup is the quick route to '80s polysynth pads, brass and arpeggios, especially for MPC and Force users who want the same sounds on hardware and in the DAW. Unlike Diva or CS-80 V, it plays back multi-samples rather than modelling circuits, so it gets to a usable sound quickly but is less flexible when you program from scratch. Compared with Omnisphere 3 or Pigments 7, its scope is narrow, but its eight macros and simple edit page make shaping presets fast. It shares its engine and layout with Fabric Vintage Pro, so the choice between them is mostly about which vintage character you want.
- Best for: lush pads, brassy chords and arpeggios from presets, on desktop or MPC.
- Genres: synth-pop, synthwave, electronic, pop and cinematic.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a circuit-level analog emulation to program deeply; Diva is the better tool.
What producers say
There are no full reviews yet; Synth Anatomy's launch coverage welcomed the sounds but would have preferred true emulations.
- Synth Anatomy (April 2026) explained that the Fabric Vintage instruments are multi-sample based rather than modelled, and saw value for "anyone looking for classic vintage sounds".
- Criticisms: the same writer called it "a bit of a shame that they aren't emulations", preferring algorithmic modelling.
