Fabric Vintage Andromeda is a sample-based synth from AIR's Fabric line inspired by the early-2000s Alesis Andromeda A6.

What it does

Fabric Vintage Andromeda is part of AIR's Fabric Vintage series. It plays multi-samples of the early-2000s Alesis Andromeda A6 through AIR's Fabric engine and adds modern modulation and effects; AIR says it is "all about depth and movement," aimed at thick pads and evolving textures.

Two sample oscillators: each with a categorised sample selector, volume, pan, formant, octave, coarse and fine tuning, pitch randomisation and drift, and sample start offset.
Sub, noise and percussive layers: a sub oscillator with four wave shapes and its own filter, a noise source and a percussive layer, each with independent filter and modulation.
Envelopes: ADSR amp envelope with velocity and velocity-to-attack, a filter envelope with bipolar depth, and a dedicated pitch envelope.
LFOs: a per-oscillator LFO and LFOs for the noise and sub layers, all tempo-syncable, plus a global LFO with eight wave shapes and fade-in.
Arpeggiator: multiple shapes, note order, swing, freeze, repeat, ratchets, octave randomisation and pause, with MPE support.
Effects: 12 distortion models, a tempo-synced delay with single, dual and cross modes, and 12 reverb models with 16 early-reflection types.
Performance: eight macro controls on the front panel, 16-voice multitimbral playing, and assignable mod wheel, aftertouch, expression and footswitch.

A 10-day free trial is available for the desktop plugins. It is also sold in the Fabric Vintage Synths Vol. 2 bundle with the CS and Matrix instruments, and launched in August 2026.

When to use it

Fabric Vintage Andromeda is the pick when you want the big, glossy late-analog Andromeda pads and leads quickly, from presets and macros, and especially if you also work on an MPC. Unlike Diva or CS-80 V, it doesn't model analog circuits: it plays back samples of the hardware, so it gives you the hardware's tone quickly but is less suited to building sounds from the ground up. Compared with Pigments 7 or Omnisphere 3, it is narrower and cheaper, focused on one synth's character with an arpeggiator and effects built in. Its MPC and Force support is something the circuit-modelling plugins don't offer.

Best for: thick pads, evolving textures, basses and arpeggiated sequences from presets, on desktop or MPC.
Genres: electronic, ambient, pop and cinematic.
Look elsewhere if: you want a true circuit-level analog emulation to program from scratch; Diva is the better tool.

What producers say

Early coverage likes the vintage Andromeda character but notes that it is sample-based rather than a true emulation.

Synth Anatomy saw it as a good way to get classic vintage sounds, calling it "a nostalgic trip," but said "it's a bit of a shame that they aren't emulations."
MATRIXSYNTH (Autodafe) posted a preset demo saying it brings the character of the Andromeda A6, a synth he had found too expensive when it was released.
