Titanium 3 by Acustica Audio

Titanium 3 is an Acustica Audio all-tube channel strip suite with three-band and single-band compressors, a passive tube EQ and a preamp.

It also includes the BASSTard bass processor, for €189 (about $215).

Best for: Vocals, Bass, Drums, Keys & Synths, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: tube, bass, multi-band, glue, low latency, vocals, warm, bus processing, drums, free, full mix, hardware emulation, mix bus, mixing, zero-latency.

What it does

Titanium 3 is Acustica Audio's all-tube suite, a rebuilt version of its earlier Titanium plugins. It uses the developer's sampling technology to emulate tube-based processors released over the last 25 years, which it calls "an all-tube dreamware suite".

KVR shows version 2.3.5. It launched at a lower introductory price. A trial is available.

When to use it

Titanium 3 is the better pick when you want tube warmth and multiband compression in one strip. Compared with Scheps Omni Channel and Native Channel Strip 2, which give clean, solid-state console tone and fast workflows, it is thicker and more coloured, and its three-band compressor can glue a mix in a way single-band strips can't. Against bx_console SSL 4000 E it trades the familiar SSL punch for a smoother, vintage tube sound. Like other Acustica plugins it is heavier on CPU than these native strips.

What producers say

Early buyers liked the tube sound and the multiband compressor, and saw the launch price as good value; the free BASSTard drew most of the complaints.
