What it does
Rice is a general-purpose digital reverb that mixes algorithmic and convolution techniques, built on the spectral processing from Acustica's Dove plugin. The developer pitches it for "creative sound design and mixing".
- 100 algorithms: ten macro-categories of ten algorithms each, inspired by hardware, real spaces and creative ideas.
- Categories: Large Hall, Deep Hall, Soft Hall, Ambience, Chamber, Bright Room, Deep Room, Tile Room, Short Plate and Reverse Plate.
- Spectral control: smooths resonances and shapes the tonal density of the reverb as it plays.
- Stereo Aliver: a stage for widening and enhancing the reverb's stereo image.
- Graphic EQ: an interactive equalizer for real-time tone shaping.
- Monitoring: Delta, LR, Mid and Side listening modes.
- Two versions: Rice with a 3D hardware-style interface and Rice Flat with a 2D one; both work the same and are resizable.

When to use it
Rice is the better pick when you want to browse ready-made spaces by category and drop one into a mix quickly. Compared with Valhalla VintageVerb and FabFilter Pro-R 2, it is built around choosing an algorithm rather than designing a reverb with deep parameters, though its spectral control and graphic EQ help fit the tail to the mix. Its hybrid convolution approach aims for more realism than VintageVerb's deliberately colored modes. Rice also stays closer to natural halls, rooms and plates than Valhalla Supermassive or Eventide Blackhole, which go much further into huge, modulated ambient washes.
- Best for: quick halls, rooms, chambers and plates on vocals, drums and instruments.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you want deep reverb editing and visual feedback (Pro-R 2), a cheap all-rounder with strong character (VintageVerb), or huge ambient spaces (Supermassive, Blackhole).
