Pumpkin Pro combines a dual-stage saturation section with 28 sampled models and a 3-band analog-style EQ.

What it does
Pumpkin Pro is an Acustica Hyper3 plugin described as "a unique blend" of dual-stage saturation and an analog-style EQ. A free Pumpkin saturator is also available.
- Dual-stage saturation: two saturation stages, each with a choice of 28 sampled saturation models.
- Shape control: changes the character of the distortion.
- 3-band EQ: low, mid and high shelving filters with an analog-style push/pull design.
- Metering: the Aria engine drives a real-time waveform display, RMS input and output meters and gain-reduction meters.
- Anti-aliasing and oversampling: an anti-aliasing algorithm and oversampling up to 64x.
- Listening modes: delta, plus left/right, mid and side monitoring.

When to use it
Pumpkin Pro is the pick when you want to choose a precise flavour of sampled analog drive and shape its tone in the same plugin. Compared with Decapitator and Radiator, it offers far more saturation models and two stages to combine, but it is slower to set up. Compared with Black Box HG-2, it covers a wider range of drive characters rather than one tube circuit. Unlike most of those, it adds anti-aliasing and up to 64x oversampling, plus delta and mid/side listening to hear exactly what the drive adds.
- Best for: sampled analog drive and tone shaping on tracks, buses and the mix.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you want quick, extreme distortion (Decapitator is faster), or a single, simple tube colour (Black Box HG-2).
