MickE-Q by Acustica Audio

MickE-Q is a hybrid 5-band equalizer that pairs vintage inductor-style low and high bands with three parametric mid bands and a saturating preamp.

It is a signature EQ named for a mixing engineer (Acustica's page calls him "Mick") and costs €179 (about $203.25).

Best for: Mix Bus, Vocals, Drums, Bass, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: mixing, analog-sounding, bus processing, drums, mix bus, musical, vintage, vocals, metering, bass, enhancement, full mix, modern, oversampling, resizable UI, static, surgical.

What it does

MickE-Q is a signature EQ designed with mixing engineer Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk, The Weeknd, Prince), made by Acustica Audio and Studio DMI. Guzauski wanted to combine a vintage inductor-based EQ with a modern parametric EQ.

When to use it

MickE-Q is the better pick when you want analog-style shelves and targeted mids in one EQ. Compared with Pultec Passive EQ Collection and Mäag Audio EQ4, it adds three fully parametric mid bands and filters, so it can fix problems as well as add colour. Compared with Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova, it has far fewer bands and no dynamic or linear-phase modes, but it brings inductor tone and a tuned preamp stage that those cleaner EQs lack.
