It includes over 100 reverb spaces and costs €69 (about $78.35).

Best for: Vocals, Guitars, Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: tracking, vocals, chorus, low latency, electric guitar, mixing, creative, keys, live performance, subtle, synths, aggressive, convolution, dynamic, experimental, hall, impulse-response based, multi-band, reverse, rotary, shimmer, sound design, tape, tempo-synced, warm.

What it does

Maple FX is a fixed chain of five analog-inspired effects in one window, built as an everyday studio effects strip you can use while mixing, tracking or playing live. It draws on what the developer calls "nearly two decades of Acustica Audio's expertise" in effect processing.

It runs at 44.1 to 96 kHz.

When to use it

Maple FX is simpler and more conventional than Soundtoys Effect Rack and Kilohearts Multipass, which let you build your own chains from many modules, and Devious Machines Infiltrator 2 and Sugar Bytes Effectrix2, which are aimed at heavy creative mangling and glitch effects. It runs one fixed order of EQ, drive and dynamics, chorus, delay and reverb, closer to a vocal or guitar effects strip than a sound-design tool. Its strength is getting a finished, coloured sound quickly at a low price, with the low latency to use it while tracking. The trade-off is less flexibility in routing and modulation than the modular racks.
