What it does
Fire The Tilt is a tilt and smile EQ from Acustica Audio's Fire series of quick, one-knob mix tools. The idea is that "tilting is often all it takes" to fix a track's balance, so it boils tonal shaping down to one main control.
- Two tilt modes: tilt the whole spectrum brighter or darker around a pivot, with two different slopes to choose from.
- Two smile modes: loudness-style curves that boost or cut the lows and highs together while the middle moves the opposite way.
- Main knob and centre frequency: one large knob sets the amount, and the centre frequency of the curve is adjustable.
- Mid/side: process the full stereo signal, the mid only, the side only, or a compensated mid-side mode (M-S CMPX) that keeps the mid and side balance in check.
- Output and channel options: an output level slider to make up for level changes, plus stereo or mono selection.
- Light on CPU: it uses little processing power, so it can sit on many tracks at once.
Fire The Tilt was released in May 2022, and a 30-day trial is available. The product page does not list a version number.

When to use it
Fire The Tilt is the pick when you want to shift a whole track's balance in seconds rather than shape individual bands. Compared with Pro-Q 4, it can't draw bells, notches or dynamic bands, but it gets a darker or brighter mix bus with one knob and no graph to fuss over. Compared with TDR VOS SlickEQ, which offers tilt-style shelving inside a fuller three-band EQ with saturation, it is narrower but adds smile curves and a compensated mid-side mode. Unlike the Pultec Passive EQ Collection, it is a broad balancing tool rather than a characterful boost-and-cut colour box.
- Best for: quick tonal balance on mix buses, masters, stems and samples, and widening or darkening only the sides.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need precise surgical bands (Pro-Q 4) or a fuller musical EQ with saturation (TDR VOS SlickEQ).
